What is landfill free junk removal in North County San Diego?
It means in demand items never ride to the dump. DeKlutterNow, based in Oceanside, picks up furniture, collectibles, tools, decor, and other in demand items for free, then reuses, donates, or upcycles them.
Our mission is simple: keep as much as possible out of the landfill. A dresser, a box of games, or a working lamp still has a next owner. Throwing it in a junk truck wastes the item and usually costs you money too.
What do we take, and what don't we take?
We take in demand items that can be reused, donated, or upcycled. We do not take everything. Text a photo of what you have along with your address so we can confirm before we schedule a pickup.
In demand items we take (free pickup)
- Furniture in good condition: dressers, tables, chairs, shelves, desks, and mid-century modern pieces
- Collectibles: video games, Lego, trading cards, comics, retro toys
- Cameras, watches, jewelry, and old phones
- Working small appliances and electronics
- Tools, sporting goods, bikes, and surf gear that still work
- Decor, lamps, art, kitchenware, and housewares in good shape
- Anything else in demand that can be reused, donated, or upcycled (text a photo and ask)
We don't take
- Household trash, food waste, and bagged garbage
- Broken items that cannot be repaired or reused
- Hazardous waste: paint, chemicals, pool supplies, motor oil, propane tanks, batteries, and similar
- Construction and demolition debris, dirt, concrete, and yard waste
- Items with mold, pests, water damage, or heavy stains
- Anything that cannot be reused, donated, or upcycled
How does free pickup of in demand items work?
Four steps, starting with a photo and your address so there are no surprises.
Step 01
Text a photo and your address
Text a photo of what you have along with your address to (858) 247-2017, or email hello@deklutternow.com. This lets us confirm exactly what we will take before anyone shows up.
Step 02
We confirm what we take
We reply with what we can pick up for free and what we cannot take. If something is not a fit, we say so honestly.
Step 03
Free pickup of in demand items
We schedule a time at your address and pick up the confirmed items for free.
Step 04
Second life, not the landfill
Everything we take gets reused, donated, or upcycled. Landfill is the last resort, not the plan.
In some cases we work with trusted partners to find the best new home for your items.
Where do the items go instead of the landfill?
Every item we take follows the same order. The landfill only comes last, and our goal is to keep that step as small as possible.
1. Reuse
In demand items go back into use with a new owner, as is.
2. Donate
Items go to people and organizations who will use them.
3. Upcycle
Furniture and materials that need a little work get repaired, refinished, or repurposed.
4. Recycle
Materials that cannot be reused should go to proper recycling, not the trash.
5. Landfill last
Only what truly has no other path. Our goal is to keep that pile as small as possible.

FAQ: junk removal and landfill diversion in North County San Diego
Do you take everything?
No. DeKlutterNow is not a full junk haul. We pick up for free only in demand items that can be reused, donated, or upcycled. We do not take trash, broken items, or hazardous waste. Text a photo of what you have along with your address to (858) 247-2017, or email hello@deklutternow.com, so we can confirm what we will take.
What is the most eco friendly junk removal option in North County San Diego?
Start by keeping in demand items out of the junk truck. DeKlutterNow picks up in demand items for free across North County San Diego and the beach towns, then reuses, donates, or upcycles them. Use a traditional hauler or your city's bulky item and hazardous waste programs only for what is left.
Is pickup really free?
Yes. There is no charge to pick up the in demand items we confirm from your photo.
What counts as an in demand item?
Things someone else will want and use: furniture and decor in good shape, collectibles, games, toys, tools, sporting goods, bikes, surf gear, and housewares. If you are not sure, text a photo and ask.
Do you haul trash, broken items, or hazardous waste?
No. We do not take household trash, broken items that cannot be reused, construction debris, yard waste, or hazardous waste like paint, chemicals, motor oil, propane, or batteries. For those, use your city's trash and bulky item service, a licensed hauler, or a household hazardous waste facility. WasteFreeSD.org lists San Diego County options.
Which cities and beach areas do you cover?
All of Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido, plus the San Diego beach areas: Encinitas (including Leucadia and Cardiff), Solana Beach, Del Mar, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Coronado, and Imperial Beach. We are based in Oceanside.
Why should I text a photo and my address first?
The photo lets us confirm what we will take before we schedule a pickup, and the address lets us plan the route. You will know which items we pick up for free and which ones need another solution, with no surprises.
What happens to the items you take?
They get reused, donated, or upcycled. Landfill is the last resort. Keeping things out of the landfill is the whole point of the service.
Can you help with an estate cleanout, move out, or downsizing?
Yes, for the in demand portion. Text a photo of the furniture and household items along with your address. We confirm what we will take and pick it up for free. Trash, broken items, and hazardous waste still need a hauler or disposal program.
